ABOUT THE ARTIST: Deron spent years creating graphics and illustrations as an employee both in the brick and mortar world and the web world. In March of 2001, Deron finally started his own graphics company, ManBitesArt.com, providing creative visual solutions in print and on the web. Along with his graphic work, Deron has steadily painted and shown at various galleries in San Diego. He received a Bachelor in Fine Art from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1994.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: The act of creation is a very holy thing to me. It is the closest thing to the idea of God that I can imagine. A whole world that doesn't exist anywhere but in my imagination spills out onto the canvas. I believe that God or whatever power helped create this world, this universe that we live in, was perhaps the best, most imaginative artist ever. Examine the many diverse organisms of earth and how they perfectly interact with each other and this becomes apparent.

I create to communicate. In my paintings I often try to communicate philosophical ideas or questions. Communication is the main reason for the creation of the image. What if there was an image that, when looked at, gave the answers to the most important questions of life? What if the image was so archetypal, so in touch with the pulse of what it means to be human, that everyone in every culture understood it and that when looked at, each individual would instantly feel his connection with every other human? To me, this would be the ultimate communication. It is this type of archetypal recognition that I try to induce in each creation. I can't say that I've successfully achieved this goal, but I seem to get closer with each finished piece of art.

I have a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do. Still, I feel as if I'm on the right path. If there is one thing that I can say with certainty it is that I am happiest when I am creating. When I am thinking creatively and producing something that wasn't there before, I know that I am fulfilling my purpose in life. My hope is that others will approach my work with an open mind and, somehow, by trying to understand what I am struggling to communicate, be affected by it.
